Why WYM Exists

I grew up in the South Bronx, where swimming was meant to feel like freedom but often came at the cost of my hair. Hours of detangling and damage made it difficult to stay in the water, and I watched many kids give up entirely. WYM was created to change that experience. We are building swim caps and community programs that protect natural hair, expand access to swimming, and make the water feel safe, welcoming, and possible for everyone.
